Asked Questions

Here a list of some FAQ's that we get at Master Aircon
What are Master Aircon trading hours?

Master Aircon Ashmore office starts at 9:00am till 4:00pm Monday to Friday.

How long does the warranty last on my aircon?

With all the Major brands like Daikin, Samsung, Panasonic, Fujitsu, Mitsubishi, Actron, Toshiba and Carrier they come with 5 years manufactures warranty on parts for domestic applications and 2 years on commercial applications.

Parts that have been added to your air-conditioning systems like inline pumps, zones or aftermarket controls, have between 1 year and 2 years depending on the manufacture.

At Master Aircon on a new installation, we warranty our work for 12 months unlike a lot of companies that only warranty their work for 3 months, we believe in our quality of work and believe that 12 months is a substantial amount of time that if there is an issue with the installation it would happen with the 12 months, giving our clients the peace of mind, knowing they’re in good hands.

Whats the best brand to get?

This is one of the hardest questions to answer. With so many brands out there it really is a personal preference and the choice can be quite hard. Many people have their own opinion on different brands, and it really comes down to what you want from your air-conditioner, is it the look of the indoor unit on you interior wall?, is it the amount of noise the unit makes when running?, or the price?.

The good news on our site we’ve made it nice and easy for you, with all the brands we supply we have attached the current downloadable brochure for each brand, you can check them all out on out Products page. Then head over to our Installation & Calculator page and see different types of installations with estimates for each type giving you a rough price to help you with your budget.

How often should i get my aircon serviced?

The rule of thumb for Air-conditioning servicing is once a year, however if you use your aircon a lot then we suggest more, its like your car you want your car to work every time you use it and I bet same goes for your air-conditioner. Places like shop, schools factories where there is a lot of traffic by people, and windows or doors opening and closing we recommend getting your system done between 2 and 4 times a year (half yearly or quarterly) the reason being is with the high traffic and changes in the air from the opening and closing the filters on the air-conditioners fill up a lot quicker, once the filter is blocked it puts a real strain on your air-conditioner, this will make the aircon work harder putting more stain on your system and eventually cause the the system to fault or breakdown.

Get in contact today with our friendly office staff to get a service contract in place and let us take care of your comfort all year round, we’ll keep logs on your system and remind you of when its due for a service so you won’t have to worry about a thing.

Do we go Ducted or Split system?

The BIG debate, there are pros and cons for both ducted systems V’s split systems

SPLIT AIRCON PROS

  • Lower cost to supply and install
  • Cheaper to run on an individual rooms
  •  Ability to relocate if you move home.

SPLIT AIRCON CONS

  • Can only do the room that its in not spread out to cool other rooms
  • If you have a few in the home, the electricity would be higher then ducted system running costs and still only doing the rooms that each system are in, whilst the ducted would be doing the entire place.
  • They are mounted to the wall, some people don’t really like the look of them.
  • for each indoor unit you have an outdoor unit and piping running to that outdoor unit from each indoor unit.

DUCTED AIRCON PROS

  • Can get outlets in each room cooling the entire home at once.
  • Only one outdoor unit.
  • Can get different grills which are a lot more aesthetically pleasing then a large rectangle box (split system indoor unit) on the wall.
  • Only runs one circuit from the switchboard.
  • Can have a zone system which gives you the ability to shut off and open rooms allowing air into these rooms.

DUCTED AIRCON CONS

  • Large upfront cost.
  • Some time due to the size of the system it can’t actually fit in the space provided.
  • In existing two storey homes, only the top floor can really be cooled as its very difficult to get flexes down to the lower area.

Split System
related questions

Here's some FAQ's in relation to split systems.
What size aircon do i need?

This is the most asked question we get at Master Aircon. It really depends on the size of the room your trying to air-condition click on the link HERE  this will give you an idea on how to size your aircon, once done send an email to “contact us” and we can get in touch with you and help you on your way to becoming comfortable in your own home.

If we buy the system from somewhere else will you install it?

We sure can, our friendly staff will come out to your home or office, check out the install, give you a price and get your aircon installed.

Can we put a smaller aircon in to save money?

We Say NO!, the reason being is yeah the initial price is cheaper, however the system won’t do the job required, which intern will cost you more in electricity as it will constantly run and barely do the job you are hoping for. What we recommend is using a the right size aircon but changing the brand can significantly change the price, all aircons we supply come with a 5 years manufactures warranty for domestic usage, and 2 years manufactures warranty for commercial usage.

What type of install will mine be?

We have made this process easy for you, click the link HERE this page will show you the different types of installs, this can help you plan how your aircon will look in your home or office.

Ducted System
related questions

Here's some FAQ's in relation to ducted systems.
Can i put a smaller system in then what the house needs to save money?

We DON’T recommend it, however with ducted systems some people opt for the “DAY / NIGHT” system, where they put a smaller system in and use the living during the “DAY” and then the bedrooms at “NIGHT”, this works well and saves the client money, however on the hot summers we have in south east Queensland these systems don’t work as the client tries to use both areas “DAY” and “NIGHT”, the system struggles to work, as its not large enough to handle both areas. Costing the client in electricity as it will constantly run trying to cool the home.

How many outlets do i need?

We generally work on one outlet per room of approx 4 meter x 4 meter area. (bedroom size area)  and two outlets for living room areas.

How many zones can we have?

On most zone systems it allows up to 8 zones, we normally use 1 zone per room or area. eg- 4 bedroom home with study and living area we would use a 6 zone system.

Can we connect our system to WIFI?

The short answer is yes, all the systems these day have some sort of WIFI connectivity. Whether it be through the brand itself or through an aftermarket add on like “AIRTOUCH”, MYAIR 5 or GOOGLE HOME.

Can we upgrade our old system?

You sure can, our friendly qualified staff will come out and check over the old system, we’ll let you know if we can reuse the old ducting and zone system, and only change out the indoor and outdoor unit, saving you plenty on the change over cost.

Service
related questions

Here's some FAQ's in relation to service
Waters coming out of the front of my split system.

This means there’s a block in the drain from either dust build up due to filter being dirty or something has blocked the drain point from the outside, eg- wasp nest is a common issue. Get in touch with our friendly office to book in a service job.

Water is coming out from a pipe under the gutter.

This means that your ducted system has a blocked main drain (this drains into the gutter) when the main drain blocks up it over flows into the emergency tray which flows out the pipe under the gutter.

Contact us to book a service call, we can even do a service on the system whilst onsite to ensure your air-conditioned runs like brand new.

My Aircon isnt working.

This could be one of a million issues. First off, if its a split system try changing the batteries in the remote you wouldn’t believe the amount of times this has been the issue.

If a ducted system we tell people to turn the system off at the isolator switch on the outdoor unit, leave off for 5 mins then turn back on, this normally resets any faults and the system works. This can also be done for split systems. If this doesn’t work contact our friendly staff to book in a service call.

Aircon is tripping breaker.

This means that the system has a major fault, one of the components either a motor or a PCB has been affected.  contact our friendly staff immediately to arrange a call out.

My aircon smells really bad

We get this question a lot, without regular servicing your air-conditioner will build up a layer of of dust and due to the constant cool air and moisture this will over time turn to mould if not cleaned. This is why we highly recommend regular servicing. Contact our friendly staff to book in your service today.
